Some Daily Life
The sun rises early in Tokyo. It's usually full daylight before 6am. The day starts with coffee and early work calls to US-based colleagues.

Ingrid usually heads off to the University while I do some household chores. A quick stop at the bin store to drop off rubbish before I go in to the office.
At the corner there is an unpretentious chinese restaurant which always has a huge queue 30 mins before it opens, lunch and dinner, regardless of the weather. They are obviously doing something right! Still haven't visited.
I get the subway into work from Hakusan station. The Mita line has relatively small trains, so it's always busy. At the time I go to work it's relatively quiet -- but I never get a seat. On the way home, during evening rush hour(s), it can be hard to even get into the train, or off at your stop, such is the crowding. The infamous Tokyo Metro "pushers" are a thing of the past though.
The office. I share with 3 colleagues. There are about 20 of us at this site. It's a kind of start-up space with a bunch of other small companies.
I usually take my lunch to the terrace at the office break room. This is a common area shared with the other companies on the floor.
Sometimes a group of us go out for dinner and drinks after work. (This is my colleague Yuta.) I enjoy the gravy boat to serve sake.
The local bar is not as trashy (or as good) as it claims, but it's still a decent option for a drink. Not tonight though!
The flat was very minimally furnished so we bought a small amount of furniture to make a bit more comfy. The sofa is provided by the landlord. Ingrid says it is the "least comfortable sofa in the entire universe". I think it's OK.
